Discover Glass – Wine. Bar. Kitchen

Walking into Glass - Wine. Bar. Kitchen for the first time, the vibe feels instantly comfortable, like a neighborhood spot that also happens to know its way around a seriously good bottle of wine. Located at 119 Falls Ave, Hawley, PA 18428, United States, this restaurant sits right in the flow of town life, close enough to feel familiar yet polished enough to feel like a destination. I stopped in on a busy Friday evening, and within minutes it was clear why locals keep recommending it in reviews and why visitors tend to circle back before leaving the area.

The menu leans into modern American comfort with thoughtful twists, and you can tell there’s intention behind every dish. The kitchen focuses on farm-to-table cooking, which isn’t just a buzzword here. I asked our server about sourcing, and she explained how seasonal produce often comes from regional farms, which mirrors what the James Beard Foundation often highlights as a best practice for sustainable dining. That commitment shows up on the plate. A roasted vegetable flatbread I ordered tasted fresh and balanced, not overloaded, and the crust had that perfect chew you only get when dough is handled with care.

Wine is where this place truly flexes its expertise. The bar features hand-selected bottles curated by a team that clearly understands balance between popular favorites and lesser-known producers. According to Wine Spectator, restaurants with smaller but intentional wine lists often outperform larger lists in customer satisfaction, and that idea plays out here. Instead of flipping through endless pages, you’re guided toward wines that actually pair with the menu. I watched the bartender suggest a Loire Valley Sauvignon Blanc to another guest ordering seafood, explaining acidity and minerality in a way that was easy to grasp, even if you’re not a wine nerd.

The seasonal menu keeps things interesting for repeat visitors. A friend who joined me mentioned she comes every few months and rarely orders the same dish twice because something new always catches her eye. This rotating approach also helps the kitchen maintain consistency. Fewer permanent items mean tighter execution, which is something culinary schools like the Culinary Institute of America emphasize when teaching menu engineering.

Atmosphere matters just as much as food, and the cozy bar area hits the sweet spot between lively and relaxed. Soft lighting, natural wood accents, and an open layout make it easy to settle in, whether you’re grabbing a quick glass or staying for a full dinner. During my visit, I noticed couples, small groups, and even solo diners chatting comfortably with staff, which says a lot about how approachable the space feels.

From an operational standpoint, the service reflects solid training. Orders came out at a steady pace, questions about ingredients were answered confidently, and dietary preferences were handled without hesitation. That level of professionalism builds trust, especially for diners who care about food sensitivities or wine pairings. It’s worth noting that while the menu isn’t massive, those looking for highly specialized dietary options may find fewer choices during certain seasons, which the staff openly acknowledges.

Online reviews often mention consistency, and based on my experience, that reputation seems earned. Glass manages to blend thoughtful cooking, a smart wine program, and a welcoming location into one cohesive experience. It doesn’t try to be everything at once, and that focus is exactly what makes it work so well for both locals and travelers passing through Hawley.

  • We have been wanting to try this restaurant for some time. It didn't disappoint! The atmosphere was both beautiful and very relaxing. The food and drinks were amazing and food portions were more than generous. I cannot wait to go back! Highly recommend.

  • My husband and myself have come three times and also stayed in the hotel. We loved the restaurant and the stay. Wish we picked days where they had live entertainment. We stayed each time where they did have entertainment but we had paid elsewhere for the entertainment portion of our trip . The food and service was always great and the room was beautiful. Nothing like dinner and a waterfall. The meal was not expensive. This photo was a year ago on our last trip but it was such a great occasion.

  • We enjoy the most delicious meal of our lives at Glass celebrating our 29th wedding anniversary. The scrumptious apps (Singapore Fried Rice and Chicken & Kimchi Potstickers), delectable drinks (Lychee Yuzu Martini and Pomegranate & Pear), and luscious entrees (Berkshire Pork Chop and Grilled Chicken Paillard) are the only things that could take our attention away from the incredible setting. We sat on the upper patio at a high top against the exterior stone wall of the hotel, which provided a panoramic view of the ledges. Cannot say one bad thing about our experience.

  • Glass Wine Bar and Kitchen features a creative menu centered around shareable plates, perfect for enjoying with your group. During our visit, we sampled several appetizers—the standouts for me were the focaccia and the stuffed scallops. For my entrée, the lollipop lamb chops were cooked to perfection—tender and flavorful. The atmosphere at Glass is truly beautiful, with a lovely outdoor area overlooking a waterfall that makes for both serene views and great photo opportunities. While the service team appeared a bit stretched at times, they still managed to provide attentive and friendly service throughout a busy evening.

  • The setting is very nice. Elegant. You can sit by the bar, the dining room or outdoor patio. Patio best because it is right by the falls and you see AND hear them. We went for dinner and although lit up, you miss the higher points of the fall. Still intriguing at nite though. Nice to hear the water while you eat. Food is shared plates style. Good menu selection. Nice cocktails. Food was well prepared and tasty. I lowered a star because they are pricy for their portion size and a surcharge on cc payment. Behind the Hawley Silk Mill. Tricky to get to it but worth it. We went back next morning and I thought the night version of the falls was better. Be nice if they would let a bit more water flow through but the flow has now been diverted since it is no longer a source of power. They give you a postcaard that has a photo of how large and powerful the falls were when they powered the silk mill and other structures nearby including the glass factory.

  • We went here for a birthday celebration. The atmosphere was incredible. The wait staff were friendly and attentive. The food options were split between 'small' plates and 'large' plates which made ordering challenging. The food was good and the prices were reasonable. We would go back.
